What is the power for a Carton Box Factory?
Once we walk into any carton box factory, you will find a carefully sequenced line of specialized carton box equipment, each equipment handles the pivotal steps from raw paper to finished packaging. A core set of carton box equipment appears in nearly every corrugated carton box facility. Understanding what this equipment does helps buyers evaluate supplier capabilities and appreciate the engineering behind their paper box orders. Following are main equipment using for corrugated carton box factory.

1. The Corrugator - Heart of the carton box Factory
If no corrugator, the carton box factory can not operates since the corrugator is the fundational equipment for carton box factory. This 80–120 meter production line converts kraft paper rolls into corrugated cardboard board at speeds up to 350 meters per minute. A corrugator divides several sub-machines: mill roll stands holding 2,500 kg rolls, preheaters conditioning paper to 85–95°C, a single facer forming the fluted medium, a double backer bonding the second liner, and a slitter scorer slicing board into individual corrugated paper box sheets. The corrugator consumes roughly 60% of a factory's energy and determines the maximum board width is about 1.6–2.8 m.
2. Flexo Folder Gluer (FFG) - The main power
If the corrugator makes cardboard, the FFG makes boxes. This machine combine printing, slotter, scores, folds, and glues flat corrugated cardboard sheets into finished carton boxes in one step-the most productive carton box equipment on the converting floor. A high-speed FFG running 18,000–24,000 boxes/hour outputs over 150,000 paper boxes per shift. Most mid-size factories prepare two FFGs-a wide-format unit for large corrugated carton box orders and a standard-width machine for everyday sizes. Servo-driven positioning systems store hundreds of job recipes, which can complete size and print conversion in three minutes.
3. Rotary Die Cutter
A very important carton box equipment category: for non-standard carton box shapes, e-commerce mailers, display trays, retail-ready packaging, the rotary die cutter is necessary. Flexible steel-rule dies mounted on a rotating cylinder cut custom profiles, hand holes, ventilation slots, and tear-away panels into corrugated cardboard sheets in one step. Die-cutting machine transfer a common paper box into a branded customer experience, adding easy-open way and self-locking bottoms. The output can reach to 4,000–8,000 sheets per hour depending on board thickness and die complexity.
4. Stitching and Taping Machines
Not all carton box is glued. For heavy-duty applications, wire stitching provides superior joint strength-essential when a corrugated carton box carries engine parts, ceramic tiles, or bulk hardware. Automatic stitchers drive galvanized wire at 600–1,200 stitches per minute along the manufacturer's joint. Tape applicators seal boxes with pressure-sensitive or water-activated tape, common for corrugated paper box styles that ship flat to end buyer for on-site assembly.
5. Strapping Machine and Palletizer
Once carton boxes are complete finished, they must be bundled and palletized for shipment. Automatic strapping machines apply PET or polypropylene straps around counted bundles of flat paper boxes at 25–40 bundles per minute, then, Robotic palletizers stack bundles onto pallets in optimized patterns-rotating each layer to lock the stack together-ensuring stable transport without box deformation. A well-configured palletizer handles the output of two FFGs, making it a critical output stage in any corrugated carton box facility.

The Right Equipment, The Right Box
Above five components together form the core of a cardboard box factory. A corrugator for board, FFG for high-speed box making, a die cutter for custom shapes, stitchers and tapers for joint options, strapping and palletizing for logistics. When these machines are correctly sized and sequenced, the factory delivers consistent, high-quality corrugated cardboard packaging at competitive cost. For packaging buyers, knowing this carton box equipment lineup provides a practical checklist for supplier audits-the carton box equipment on the floor can tell you more information about a factory's capabilities.
